in Strawberry
Strawberry is now open beta, anyone can download it at strawberrybrowser.com. This update brings a major engine upgrade, a smarter default model with automatic failover, and tab hover actions for faster browsing. We've also squashed a long list of bugs since going public.
Open Beta
No more invite codes. Anyone can now download Strawberry Browser at strawberrybrowser.com and start using it right away.
Engine Upgrade
The core browser engine has been updated to the latest version, better website compatibility, stronger security, and smoother performance across the board.
Smarter Default Model
The default model is now Claude Sonnet 4.6, noticeably better at complex tasks. If the provider goes down, it switches to a backup. The model picker also got logos and better grouping. Click your companion and go to Advanced settings to change it.
Tab Hover Actions
Hover over any tab to pin it, bookmark it, open it in chat, or copy the URL. No right-clicking required.
Improvements and Bug Fixes
- Chat context carries over: Links opened from chat now carry your conversation into the new tab, your companion remembers what you were talking about.
- Shortcut hints: Hold Cmd to reveal shortcut numbers on pinned tabs.
- New messages indicator: A "scroll to bottom" button appears when new messages arrive while you're reading above. The chat no longer fights your scrolling or jumps around while your companion is typing.
- iPhone photos: HEIC and HEIF images (the default format from iPhones) now display and attach properly. No more broken thumbnails.
- Memory browser: Folder paths are now visible in your companion's memory list, and you can browse nested folders to see everything it's stored.
- Mute/unmute tabs: Always available in the right-click menu, not just sometimes.
- Companion animations: Smoother transitions for avatars and pinned tabs.
- Paste handling: Pasting a mix of links and images into chat now works as expected. You can also paste images directly into the new tab input.
- Performance: Tab hover is smoother, background tabs no longer waste resources, and multi-tool tasks run more efficiently.
- Fix: Deleting a conversation no longer leaves behind data that could make the chat reappear.
- Fix: Stopping an agent now correctly shows it as stopped instead of looking like it's still running.
- Fix: Moving a tab to a new window no longer loses what was on the page.
- Fix: Login popups work correctly when Strawberry is set as your default browser on Mac.
- Fix: Improved how the browser handles its own special pages (like settings and downloads) to prevent unexpected behavior from links in chat.
