Get 140 referral resumes into Ashby, sources intact

Every resume uploaded and parsed, attachments filed, and the real source id set from the list your team configured. The sourcing report starts being true.

140 resumes sit in a shared folder, forwarded from four inboxes, half of them from people who were introduced by someone. When they reach the ATS they arrive with no source, so the quarterly sourcing report says forty per cent Other.

A companion works the whole folder. It creates each candidate, uploads the resume so Ashby parses it into fields, attaches the portfolio, picks the real source id from your configured list, and creates the application on the job. With your approval it moves each one to the right stage.

What does an unparsed resume pile cost you?

The search.

A resume sitting in a folder is a candidate who appears in no report, surfaces in no search for “shipped payments infrastructure”, and ages out. Uploaded through the integration, Ashby parses it and fills the missing fields, with existing candidate data taking precedence.

Everything that is not a resume has its own attachment path: the portfolio PDF, the writing sample, the signed take-home. The artefact you want in a debrief ends up on the candidate. That is the data extraction habit applied to hiring.

Set the real source on every candidate

Ashby exposes the sources your team configured: referral, the specific job board, the agency, the event. A companion reads that list rather than typing a fifth spelling of LinkedIn, sets the source when it creates the candidate or the application, and says so when it cannot tell.

The sourcing analytics that justify next quarter’s budget are built from those fields. Getting them right at write time costs one pass; a clean-up project in November costs a week.

How does a companion move an application a stage?

It walks the chain.

List the jobs, take the interview plan id from the job, list the actual stages on that plan, then propose the move. Skipping that chain is how an agent moves someone into a stage belonging to a different role.

The move itself waits for you, because stage changes in Ashby drive scheduling requests, reminders, and in some setups the message that tells someone they are through. A batch of proposed moves with the evidence beside each name is a better artefact than a batch that already happened.

Better inputs than the ATS can collect

The candidate’s public work. The repository behind the link on page two of the CV. The context sitting in your inbox from an introduction six weeks ago. A companion brings those back and writes them into the record with the source attached, which is the wider recruiting pattern.

Ashby keeps producing the numbers on data it owns: funnel conversion, time-in-stage, interviewer load. Those reports get more trustworthy as the fields feeding them get filled in properly.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The integration includes a resume upload that Ashby parses to fill missing candidate fields, in PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT or RTF. Data a recruiter already entered wins over parsed data, so a bulk upload cannot overwrite what your team typed deliberately.
