Credits are spent when you chat with a companion and when a companion browses on your behalf, because both mean model calls. A companion that reads twelve dashboards spends more than one that answers a question.

Balances refill monthly. The free plan includes 2,000 credits a month, paid plans start at $20/month with larger allowances above that, and top-ups are available mid-month. Current numbers live at pricing, which is the source of truth rather than this page.

Why not just charge a flat monthly price?

Because usage varies between people by orders of magnitude rather than by percentages.

One person asks three questions a week. Another runs six scheduled routines that trawl twenty sites every morning. A flat price that covers the second overcharges the first several times over.

Metering keeps the light user cheap and lets the heavy user keep going. Products that meter should be legible about what things cost, which is why pricing lists the allowances and what spends them.

How to keep the bill small

Estimate frequency rather than enthusiasm. Count the tasks you would actually delegate in a week and how much reading each involves. A daily inbox triage pass on a normal inbox is modest. A routine that checks thirty competitor sites every morning spends credits on the mornings when nothing changed, which is the most common way people are surprised by a bill.

Two practical rules. Prefer weekly schedules over hourly ones unless the freshness genuinely matters, and scope the sources: six named dashboards rather than "check everything". For calibration on what a finished task looks like, real runs shows the work.
