Strawberry takes the Atlas slot on your dock
A browser still standing, where companions finish the work in the accounts you are already signed into and every send waits on a click. OpenAI retired ChatGPT Atlas in 2026: announced in July, shutdown completed August 9.
Strawberry is a browser whose companions finish work rather than describing it: 93 native integrations carrying 1,257 hand-written operations, 1,975 further apps connectable as accounts, routines on a daily, interval, cron or app trigger, and an approval card before every send, record change and payment.
ChatGPT Atlas, OpenAI’s standalone browser, was retired in 2026, with the shutdown announced in July and completed on August 9. If you ran it, the useful questions now are what Atlas validated, what it never solved, and what deserves that slot.
| You used Atlas for | Still in ChatGPT | In Strawberry |
|---|---|---|
| Asking about the page you are on | Paste into the chat apps | Companion reads your open tabs |
| Agent mode on websites | Cloud agent mode, own VM | Companions in your local session |
| Work inside logged-in accounts | Per-task remote sign-ins | Your existing sessions, with approvals |
| Recurring tasks | Re-prompt each time | Scheduled routines |
| A default daily browser | Gone with Atlas | macOS and Windows, free download |
What did Atlas validate?
That people want the agent in the browser, next to their logins, rather than in a chat tab describing work it cannot reach. Atlas users learned the motion: highlight, delegate, watch the browser do it. That instinct transfers whole to any agentic browser.
What should a replacement have to prove?
Execution depth: does the agent finish multi-step work in your logged-in accounts, or stop at drafting and describing? Oversight you can set: Strawberry pauses consequential actions on an approval card, with Ask Always mode in Settings → AI permissions when you want everything gated, described at /security. And a vendor whose whole business is the browser.
Strawberry’s answer: companions run tasks end to end in your session, with native integrations for Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Notion, Zoom and Apollo, recurring work on routines, and finished runs public at /real-runs.
Moving in takes an afternoon
It is a standard download for Mac and Windows, free to start. Sign into your sites the way you always have, and companions work in those sessions from the first task.
Mapping your Atlas habits
The table below maps habits rather than products.
The ChatGPT apps and cloud agent mode still exist, so the model you spent a year tuning context into is still there, alongside a browser that finishes work in your accounts.
