What does a companion do with a transcript?

Everything that happens after the meeting.

The transcript arrives as sentences with a speaker and a timestamp on each, so a companion finds the commitment rather than paraphrasing the call: the sentence where you promised the security document, the sentence where they named a deadline, the sentence where somebody said the quiet objection out loud at minute thirty-four.

From there the work leaves Fireflies. The follow-up email gets drafted in your mail client, the two action items become tickets in your tracker, the deal note lands on the right CRM record. Each of those runs through an integration you connected, and each stops for approval before it writes or sends.

Search nine transcripts by reading all nine

Ask "who has asked about SSO this month" and a companion lists the recent transcripts, pulls the full text of the candidates, and reads across every one. What comes back is quotes with speakers and timestamps attached rather than a hit count, which is the difference between an answer you can act on and a list of files to open.

The search tool matches a keyword against meeting titles over recent transcripts, so "SOC 2" finds a meeting called "SOC 2 review". The mention at minute eleven of a call about something else comes from the full read, and reading all nine takes a companion the time it takes you to make coffee.

Can a companion change what a transcript says?

No. It cannot upload audio, send the notetaker into a meeting, edit a summary, or change anything in your Fireflies workspace. The record stays exactly as the tool captured it, which is what makes a transcript usable as evidence three months later.

So the approval questions all sit downstream. Reading a transcript does not interrupt you; the email it produces waits on a card showing the recipient and the body before anything leaves. Ask Always mode in Settings → AI permissions pauses on reads too, if you want that.

The usual shape for a team is a routine at the end of the day: read today's calls, draft what each one owes, queue it for a two-minute review in the morning. Same rhythm as any other operations routine, and it pairs with the pre-call brief under research.
