Turn a badge-scan CSV into finished Attio records
Hand a companion forty rows and one review screen comes back: matched companies updated, new people created, a note on each explaining why they are there.
The conference ends and you are holding forty badge scans in a CSV. A first name, a last name, a company, and an email that may or may not be the one they read.
A companion checks all forty against your workspace, opens each company’s site to see what they actually sell, and stages the creates and updates in one screen. Attio is a native integration for people, companies and notes, connected with an API key.
Attio also publishes an MCP server, and Strawberry can connect to it that way when you need something outside those three.
Forty badge scans, one review screen
For each row the companion queries the workspace by email and by company domain, opens the company’s site to work out what it sells, and assembles a proposal: create this company, attach this person, update the description on this one because the current text is two years old.
You get one screen instead of forty tabs. Two companies with the same name, an email on a personal domain: those arrive marked unresolved, and you decide.
How do you stop a CRM filling up with near-duplicates?
By making the lookup mandatory.
Companies get queried by domain and people by email before any create call, and a hit becomes an update. A companion follows that sequence on every row, at 4:50 on a Friday as readily as at nine on a Monday.
The second pass is then cheap. Run the same instruction next month over a fresh list and your workspace grows by the genuinely new rows only.
What goes in the note besides the date?
The sentence that will matter in six months: why this company was added, what they said about timing, which competitor they mentioned. Notes attach to a parent record, so a companion writes it against the right person or company and lists the existing notes first so it does not repeat one.
The research rides along. The same companion that reads a funding announcement or a new careers page puts that in the note with the source, which is research doing double duty as CRM hygiene.
Beyond people, companies and notes
The native tools cover people, companies and notes: query by name, email or domain, fetch by record id, create, update, delete, and write a note against a parent record.
For deals, list entries and custom objects there are two routes. Attio’s MCP server is one. The other is the Attio web app you are already signed into, where a companion works the interface the way you would, at your volume rather than your pace.
