Get your overnight Instantly replies sorted before 9am
A companion reads all 213, separates the eleven real questions from the autoresponders and the removal requests, and ranks them by who to answer today.
Nine in the morning, six campaigns running, 213 messages arrived overnight. Around 140 are out-of-office autoresponders, 50 are variations on “please remove me”, and somewhere in the remainder are the eleven people who asked a real question.
A companion reads every one of the 213 and returns four groups with the full body pulled in for anything worth answering. It also lists campaigns, leads and sending mailboxes, adds or removes a lead, and pauses a campaign, with the writes held for you. Instantly is a native integration, connected with an API key.
| Step | Strawberry companion | |
|---|---|---|
| Sending infrastructure and warm-up | The product: mailbox rotation, throttling, deliverability | Reads the mailboxes back so you see which one is struggling |
| Sorting 213 overnight replies | Filters and an inbox view | Reads each one and returns four ranked piles |
| Deciding who deserves an answer today | Not something a dashboard can know | Checks the company on the open web, then ranks |
The 213-message reply pile at 9 a.m.
The companion filters the message list to what was received, reads each one properly, and sorts: real question, soft interest, unsubscribe request, machine noise. Anything in the first two groups arrives with the full body, so you read the message rather than a preview.
One detail shapes the run. The endpoint that lists emails is rate-limited to twenty requests a minute, so a very large pile takes a few minutes. It arrives already read.
How does a lead get added without anyone getting surprise email?
Adding a lead to an Instantly campaign starts the configured outbound sequence, so it waits for your sign-off.
Before proposing the add, a companion reads the campaign itself: the sequence steps, the schedule, which mailboxes are sending. You approve a list knowing the first email that will land.
- Lead removal is destructive and pulls the person out of every campaign they are in, so it is confirmed explicitly rather than inferred.
- The sending-mailbox list answers “which inboxes are actually working today” without opening the settings screen.
- Custom variables travel with the lead, so personalisation tokens are checked before the send rather than after the bounce.
Stop a running campaign mid-send
A companion can pause a running campaign.
Instantly’s v2 API has no public resume endpoint, so you restart it in the Instantly interface.
For the emergency (the wrong list, the broken merge tag, a competitor’s name in the copy) that is the right way round: the sending stops the moment you ask.
What can a companion see that the campaign dashboard cannot?
Everything outside Instantly.
“Interesting, but not right now” reads differently when the company announced a funding round yesterday. A companion reads the message, then the company, then tells you which of the eleven to answer first.
It closes the loop in the same pass: the interested reply becomes a CRM record and a task, the removal request becomes a deletion you approve, and the draft answer waits in your inbox. That is the sales prospecting loop as a morning routine, alongside your other operations passes.
