Automate your ClickUp task hygiene with an AI agent

Ask for the state of a list and you get the fourteen tasks with no activity in two weeks and the three that are the same request written three ways, each with the comment history that proves it.

One space, six lists, eleven custom statuses, and a Priority field four people fill in four different ways. New tasks land wherever the person filing them happened to be.

A companion searches every task in the workspace by name and description, reads the comment history on each candidate, and tells you which of the near-duplicates is the live one. Then it files the next one in the right list.

What does a companion do that a saved view does not?

A view filters what already exists.

It cannot tell you that fourteen of the 62 tasks in In Progress have no activity in two weeks, or that three of them are one request written by three people who each searched with a different noun.

A companion searches the whole workspace by name and description, reads the comment history on every candidate, and names the live one. That is 62 tasks read properly, in the time a filter takes to load.

Set the structure up once, correctly

Describe the shape you want, a folder per client, a list per engagement, the standard six tasks in each with owners and due dates, and a companion creates the folders, the lists and the tasks, resolving assignee IDs from the member list rather than leaving them empty.

Checklists are part of the surface, so an eleven-step onboarding task is one task and a checklist rather than eleven tasks cluttering the board. That is the client-setup half of the operations workflows.

Which half of the work is not in ClickUp?

Checking whether the client actually replied.

Reading the invoice status on a portal. Pulling a competitor’s changelog into the research task. A companion signed in as you does those and then writes the answer into the task, which is the step that normally never happens.

The research workflows show the same pattern end to end.

What a companion changes on a task

Name, description, status, priority, assignees and due date, on creates and updates alike, plus comments and checklists. Custom fields are readable, so a companion speaks your list’s vocabulary and leaves the values to you.

Deletion tools exist for tasks, lists and folders, and deleting a folder takes its lists with it, which is exactly the kind of action that waits for your approval. ClickUp Brain, as of this writing, sits on the docs, dashboards and goals inside the workspace.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. ClickUp is a native integration. A companion navigates teams, spaces, folders and lists, creates and updates tasks, reads the statuses and custom-field definitions on a list, comments, manages checklists, and searches tasks across the workspace.
